I've always loved animals of all types: cats, dogs, horses... even snakes, mice and rabbits. I did not always have animals around. I adopted my first pet, Vinny, from a local shelter when I was in high school, against the wishes of my parents who were simply not accustomed to living with pets. I had come upon the city's animal shelter and decided to go in and investigate. This being my first time in a shelter, the tears began to flow as I saw the countless lonely faces of animals in need of homes. I was informed about their 3 day rule (not adopted in 3 days meant they would be put down) and I was affected like never before at the tought. After all, "What had these poor animals ever done to deserve this fate?"

I walked over to where the cats were kept and quickly fell in love with a black, green-eyed 6 month old black cat who jumped down to greet me, stuck his paw out of the crate towards me and meowed at me, as if saying "Please save me!" I took him home that very day without a word to anyone in the house and named him Vinny. - let's just say, it didn't take long before they fell in love with him too. He's still living a happy life at 16 years old (with my parents, who adore him!).

Vinny slept with me every day and was there for me when I had a difficult day. He taught me what unconditional love is all about. I currently live with 2 dogs and 3 cats and I adore them all, and Vinny paved the way. Along with my husband, they are the core of my family, and I would do anything for them.

Since that time, I spent several years in the mid-90s fostering dogs and have also volunteered with several cat rescue groups in the past decade. I began volunteering with a Greyhound rescue group in 2004, added Boxer rescue to the list on 2006, and currently volunteer with TIGR (Texas Italian Greyhound Rescue in Dallas, TX).

As the founder and working member of ChicKoncepts, I have an additional opportunity to "volunteer" on a much larger scale. Helping animals live happy and healthy lives in the loving homes they deserve is my goal in life. By helping animal rescues and organizations better their presence online, we are helping others who do right by them, and hence, we help them all.
